Dear Students, Parents and Community:
I am a teacher at 21st Century Learning Institute in the Beaumont Unified School District. I am here to support students who wish to learn and grow through the alternative option of independent study. Our students study a rigorous, standards-based curriculum that is aligned with the courses at the other Beaumont Unified schools.
Many students thrive in the self-paced quiet environment that is available through our school. In order to succeed at 21st Century you must be willing to:
- study for tests and exams
- take careful notes (Cornell notes are very effective)
- write regularly
- write complete essays when they are assigned
- contact your teachers when you have a question
- attend learning and enrichment labs when you need help
- attend appointments with your teacher regularly
- take required district benchmarks and state tests
About Me:
I have been teaching in the Beaumont Unified School District since 1995 at the 21st Century Learning Institute, Beaumont High School and the Laura May Stewart Performance School (no longer in operation). I have a Bachelor's Degree in English from the University of California, Santa Barbara, a Master's in Education and a California Teaching Credential from California State University, San Bernardino.
I enjoy reading, biking and hiking. I love animals and the outdoors. My biggest rewards in life come from helping students to succeed and meet their goals.
